— Terms of Service —

The rules of the road.

A short, honest set of terms covering how you use the site, what you can and can’t do with the kits, and what happens if something goes wrong. Written in plain language, not legalese.

Last updated: 14 May 2025 · Effective: 14 May 2025 · Governing law: South Africa
— The short version —

Be a decent person. Don’t share or resell the kits you buy. If we mess up your order, we’ll fix it or refund you. If you mess something up, please tell us so we can sort it. We’d rather have a conversation than a court case.

1. About these terms

This site (moodmap.com) and everything sold on it is operated by Moodmap, an independent small business based in Cape Town, South Africa. By using the site, taking the quiz, signing up for emails, or buying a kit, you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the site.

We may update these terms occasionally. If we make a meaningful change, we’ll update the ‘Last updated’ date and, where the change affects existing customers, email people who have bought from us. We will not make material changes that apply retroactively.

2. Using the site and quiz

The site, the quiz, and the free archetype pages are free to use. You don’t need an account or to give us your email.

By using the site, you agree not to: attempt to break or hack the site; scrape or republish substantial portions of content beyond normal personal use; use the site to send spam, harass anyone, or commit illegal activity; use automated tools to abuse the quiz; or impersonate Moodmap or pretend to have a relationship with us that you don’t have.

3. Buying a kit

The kits sold on this site are digital products. When you buy one, you receive a set of PDF and PowerPoint files by email, immediately after payment.

What you receive: a 22-page Personality Report PDF, an Annual Planner PDF, a Workbook PDF, fully editable PowerPoint versions of each, and an order confirmation email with download links that don’t expire.

What you don’t receive: any physical object, live coaching, group calls, a community, or any subscription. The kit is a one-time purchase with lifetime access.

4. Licensing — what you can and can't do

When you buy a kit, you are buying a single-user, lifetime personal-use licence.

You can: read, use, refer back to, and integrate the kit into your life forever, on any of your devices. Print it for your own use. Show specific pages to a partner or friend the way you’d show a paragraph from a book. Quote short passages publicly with attribution. Receive future updates free.

You cannot: resell, share, redistribute, or republish the kit. Upload it to any public site, file-sharing service, or cloud storage shared with others. Use it for any commercial purpose (in a coaching practice, in a paid course, in a paid newsletter) without a separate licence. Remove the copyright notices or modify the content and present it as your own.

If you’re a coach, therapist, teacher, or facilitator who wants to use a kit professionally, email licensing@moodmap.com. We have reasonable commercial terms and we say yes to most requests.

5. Payment, pricing, and tax

Prices are listed in South African Rand (ZAR). For South African customers, prices include 15% VAT. For international customers, the price you see is the price you pay.

Payment is processed by Yoco. We accept all major credit and debit cards. Card details are handled entirely by Yoco and never seen by us.

We reserve the right to change prices for future purchases. The price you paid is the price you paid — you don’t owe more if we raise it later, and we don’t refund if we lower it. If a price contains an obvious error, we reserve the right to cancel the order and refund you in full.

6. Refunds

If a kit doesn’t land for you, email support@moodmap.com within 14 days of purchase with your order number and we’ll refund you in full. No questions, no process, no required justification.

Refunds are processed within 5 business days of your request being received.

We may decline to sell to someone in future if they request refunds repeatedly without ever using a kit — but we will always honour a 14-day refund on the first one.

After 14 days, refunds are at our discretion, but we will usually still help if there’s a real problem.

7. Delivery and access

Kit files are delivered by email immediately after successful payment. If you don’t receive the email within 10 minutes, check your spam, promotions, and updates folders. If it’s still nothing, email support@moodmap.com and we’ll resend within a few hours.

Download links do not expire. If you ever lose access — new device, lost email, accidental deletion — email us with the address you bought under and we’ll resend. There is no time limit.

8. The quiz result

The MoodMap quiz produces a personality archetype based on your twelve answers. It is intended as a thoughtful self-reflection tool, not a diagnosis, not therapy, and not a clinical assessment.

The quiz and kits are not psychological, psychiatric, medical, or therapeutic advice. They are not a substitute for professional mental health care. If you’re struggling with a clinical concern, please speak to a qualified professional.

The MoodMap archetype model is original to Moodmap and is not affiliated with the Enneagram, Myers-Briggs, the Big Five, or any other personality system.

9. Intellectual property

All content on the site — text, design, typography, illustrations, archetype names and descriptions, kit contents — is owned by Moodmap and protected by South African and international copyright law.

The ‘Moodmap’ name and wordmark, the four archetype names (Dreamer, Builder, Restorer, Explorer in this specific framework), and the four signature marks (Sun, Foundation, Petal, Compass) are trademarks of Moodmap.

You may quote short passages with attribution. Anything beyond that requires our written permission, which we usually grant for legitimate use — email press@moodmap.com.

If you believe content on the site infringes your own intellectual property, email hello@moodmap.com with details.

10. Limitation of liability

We do our genuine best to make the site and the kits work well. But we provide them ‘as is’ without warranties of any kind.

We don’t promise that the site will always be online, that every file will work perfectly on every device, that the content will produce any specific outcome in your life, or that the quiz result is the definitive truth about you.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before any claim arose. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.

None of this limits any rights you have under South African consumer law (the Consumer Protection Act) or, for non-SA customers, the consumer law of your jurisdiction.

11. Email communications

If you give us your email, we may email you about what you signed up for, new kits or content, and updates to our terms or policy.

You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time, with one click in the footer of any email we send. We do not use dark patterns or hide the unsubscribe link.

Even if you unsubscribe, we may still send essential transactional emails (order receipts, support replies, material policy changes).

12. Accounts

There are currently no accounts on Moodmap. Your kit files are linked to the email address you used at checkout. If we add accounts in future, those will have their own additional terms.

13. Termination

You can stop using the site at any time. You can request deletion of your data at any time (subject to legal retention requirements).

We may suspend access for anyone who breaks these terms in a serious way (attempting to redistribute kits, hack the site, commit fraud). We usually warn first; for severe breaches we may terminate without notice. If we terminate access for a serious breach, we are not obligated to refund. If we terminate for any other reason, we’ll refund any unused, paid-for product where reasonable.

14. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of South Africa. Any dispute will be heard in the courts of Cape Town.

For international customers: you may have additional rights under your local consumer protection law. Nothing in these terms is intended to limit those rights.

Before going to court, please email us. Most issues can be resolved with one or two emails. We are reasonable. We are not interested in fighting with our customers.

— A note —

We’ve written these terms to be readable and human, not adversarial. If you find anything unclear, or you have a specific situation that isn’t covered, write to us. We’d rather have a conversation than refer anyone to clause 7(b)(iii).
